The next appearance of the "Lovely Angel" in anime was in DP Flash (1994-96). Except for the fact that this version of the ship can be separated into two individually maneuverable spacecraft, it is probably the closest in design to the original conception, a long, tapering, vertical-landing vessel with fins and compound curves.

For his own part, Adam Warren produced a version fairly close to the Classic anime concept. It has changed relatively little in the eight years covered here. Forward-swept wings were the rage in NASA experimental aircraft design in the late 1980s...

the two illustrations above are from Biohazards (1988-89)

these two illustrations are from Sim Hell (1993);Warren takes up the idea of cameo art on the hull from the pod caricatures in "Project E.D.E.N." and American military aircraft "art"

his most detailed rendition to date: from Fatal: But Not Serious (1995); you can just see the gamma-ray laser cannon mounted on the underside of the hull, added in this story (just the thing for discouraging bad guys... or triggering supernovas*)

*Not to be a spoilsport, but that wouldn't actually work...
